Business Consulting with pricing you can actually read

Most consulting firms hand you a proposal stuffed with vague line items. We do the opposite. Every engagement at Innovation Advisory Pro starts with a written cost explanation: what you pay, what that covers, and what sits outside the scope. No hourly surprises. No retainer creep.

Below you will find the logic behind our fees, a scope matrix so you can see exactly which activities fall into which cost layer, and real outcomes from organisations that used this model.

How our pricing actually works

We do not sell packages. Every organisation has different constraints, so a rigid package would either overcharge you or leave gaps. Instead, we price across three transparent cost layers.

Layer 1: diagnostic

A fixed-fee assessment lasting between five and fifteen working days. We review your financials, interview leadership, and map operational bottlenecks. You receive a written diagnostic report with prioritised recommendations.

Typical range: £3,200 – £8,500 depending on company size and data availability.

Fixed fee, agreed upfront

Layer 2: implementation support

Hands-on work alongside your team. This could mean restructuring a supply chain, redesigning a pricing model, or building a go-to-market plan. We scope each deliverable individually and quote a fixed price per deliverable before work begins.

You approve each deliverable separately, so you control total spend week by week.

Per-deliverable pricing

Layer 3: ongoing advisory

Monthly advisory access for founders or C-suite leaders. Two scheduled calls per month, unlimited email, and quarterly strategy reviews. Billed monthly with a 30-day cancellation clause.

Flat monthly rate: £1,400 – £2,800 depending on scope.

When does outside consulting make financial sense?

Hiring a full-time strategy director costs roughly £110,000 per year before benefits. If you need strategic input for a specific challenge lasting three to six months, external consulting at a fraction of that cost gives you senior expertise without a permanent headcount commitment.

We are honest about when consulting is not the right answer. If your problem is a staffing gap, we will tell you to recruit. If your issue is a technology limitation, we will point you to the right vendor rather than billing you for hours of meetings.

"They told us we didn't need a consultant — we needed a part-time CFO. Saved us months." — Operations lead, Newport manufacturing co.

What your first engagement looks like

1

Scoping call (free, 30 minutes)

We listen. You describe the challenge, the timeline, and any budget constraints. We ask questions to determine whether a diagnostic, direct implementation work, or ongoing advisory is the right starting point.

2

Written proposal within 3 working days

You receive a document listing every deliverable, the fixed fee for each, the people involved, and the timeline. No ambiguous language. If something is out of scope, we say so explicitly.

3

Kick-off and data access

Once you approve, we schedule a kick-off session. We will need access to relevant financial data, internal documents, and key team members. We sign an NDA before any data changes hands.

4

Delivery and review

Deliverables arrive on the dates stated in the proposal. Each one includes a review session where your team can challenge findings, ask questions, and request adjustments within the agreed scope.

Welsh food manufacturer

A family-owned food company in Carmarthenshire asked us to find £200k in annual cost savings. Our diagnostic identified three supply-chain inefficiencies and a procurement process that had not been reviewed in nine years.

£247k saved in year one

Engagement duration: 11 weeks. Total consulting fee: £14,200.

B2B software company, Bristol

Their sales cycle averaged 94 days. We restructured their proposal process, retrained the sales team on value-based pricing, and introduced a qualification framework that filtered out low-probability leads earlier.

Sales cycle reduced to 58 days

Engagement duration: 8 weeks. Total consulting fee: £9,800.

Healthcare services group

A group operating four clinics across South Wales needed a board-ready growth strategy to secure a second round of private investment. We built the financial model, the market analysis, and the investor deck.

Engagement duration: 6 weeks. Total consulting fee: £11,500.

Why we avoid hourly billing

Hourly billing creates a perverse incentive: the longer the work takes, the more the consultant earns. That misalignment damages trust and inflates budgets.

Fixed and per-deliverable fees force us to scope carefully, work efficiently, and deliver on time. If we underestimate the effort, that is our problem, not yours. Our margin depends on getting better at estimating, not on stretching timelines.

Common questions about our pricing

What if the scope changes mid-engagement?

Scope changes happen. When they do, we write a short change-order document describing the new deliverable, its fee, and its timeline. You approve it before any additional work begins. We never invoice for work you did not explicitly agree to.

Do you require payment upfront?

For Layer 1 diagnostics, we invoice 50% at kick-off and 50% on delivery of the report. For Layer 2 implementation work, each deliverable is invoiced on completion. Layer 3 advisory is billed monthly in advance.

Can we start with a diagnostic and decide later about implementation?

Yes, and most clients do exactly that. The diagnostic report stands on its own. Many organisations take our recommendations and execute them internally. There is no obligation to continue into Layer 2.

Are travel expenses included in the fixed fee?

Travel within Wales and the South West of England is included. For engagements requiring regular travel outside that region, we agree a travel cap in the proposal. You will never see an uncapped travel line on an invoice.

How many people work on a typical engagement?

A diagnostic is usually led by one senior consultant with analytical support. Implementation engagements involve two to three people depending on the breadth of deliverables. You will know every name before the work starts.
